Intake and cutting
I am thinking about getting an intake, most likely going for CAI rather than induction boxes.
So far what I have learnt that the Comptech CAI does not require any cutting or drilling but AEM v2 does. Does Injen and K&N CAIs require cutting too? since they are also cones on sticks?
As for induction boxes, does C-West and J's also require cutting?
For now, I am just looking for bolt-on upgrades and prefer to stay away from any cutting, drilling, welding etc. Does that mean I have no hope on getting any aftermarket exhaust systems?
Thanks.

the k&n and the injen don't require cutting to my knowledge. the only reason the aem v2 needs cutting is because the tubing is a little thick in the area where the hood starts to scoop down towards the latch. (i hope i explained that correctly)....
if you get the snorkel ones like the spoon one.. you'll need to do a little bit of cutting also...the cutting on that is not nessecary but you'll scratch up the snorkel a little after a while..

So Injen and K&N would perform as good as or almost as good as the AEM v2 and make the pleasant sound the AEM one makes? Comptech's carbon box looks nice but I'd rather get one that gives better performance and make better whistle sound. Also, do they fit on MY04's? Comptech has a different stock number for MY04 CAI I think so I'm guessing the air filter area might have been re-arranged a bit.
As for exhausts, on the pictures for straight pipes and exhaust themselves, I only see hooks and holes for nuts and bolts, but do they still require welding? I am hoping to get the cheaper exhausts that cost around 650ish, such as Invidia and T1R. Would the installation cost as much as the exhaust system themselves?

Comptech Does require cutting for the rod to hold the hood up, on certain models it also requires the horn to be moved. I have the aem v1 and Its just one small cut that is not visible unless you are under the car. I took the other panel off so if i have to go to dealership i can take the intake off and put the panel back on and the dealership has no idea i had intake

Otherwise, the horn needs to be removed for the '02s and up.

Is the horn removing required on MY04-MY05 models? Do Injen and K&N ones require any cutting/removing? How do their sound compare to AEM's? I heard that AEM v2 sounds sweet.
i've always had an injen in all of the cars that i've modified. and i love the sound of it. and i've always liked the performance gains from it.... it'll probably sound very similar to the aem v2...
i don't think the injen requires cutting.... i think the only reason the aem V2 one requires cutting. is because the tubing is a little bigger then the rest of them..
and as for the 04 goes. i don't know.. .i don't see why it wouldn't..

Yes the Injen does require cutting just like the AEM V1 and V2. You will have to cut an opening in the wheel well just behind the bumper. Unless Injen makes a short ram but I don't think so. You will also need to cut out part of the skid plate in the center behind the bumper. They recomend you cut an 8"x8" opening just behind the grille to bring in cool air. Otherwise you will not see much gain. To my knowledge, the AEM, Mugen (Cutting of the hood) J's Racing and Injen are the only two that require cutting unlike Comptec, K&N, PRM, Spoon and ARC. Hope that helps...

Wow, thanks for the info. So I guess my best bet is the K&N intake if I want some performance gain, loud noise and no cutting? Comptech does look good but I prefer more growl than pretty look, I think the K&N intake with red finish would look good because of the red stock engine cover.
