Nothing is going to stop soemone from stealing your car if they really want to. The "Club", "Autolock", and even car alarms are all forms of prevention. We pay money for these things to buy time. We hope that a thief will see our counter measures and instead of spending th extra time trying to break in or steal our car, they will move on to one that will take less time. All these maufacturers of anit-theft devices are very smart. They use our fear and paranoia about auto-theft to get us to buy their products and it works. I'm not saying don't get a "Club". I have one in addition to my Viper alarm. I mainly use it at night or when I park in known higher-risk areas. The "Club" is not a guarantee that your car will not be stolen, but whatever makes a theif think twice is worth it, especially at $35-50.

A club will help if used in conjunction with an aftermarket alarm system. It buys you time. Lets say the thief breaks into your car, tries to disable the alarm but is having trouble trying to get to the alarm because there's this steel rod making it hard to get into the driver's seat. Sure it will only take 30 seconds or so to cut it, but if you have more than a single siren mounted under the hood and all these other attention drawing devices, he might just bug out and go away.

Using the club the way it was designed, against the windsheild to prevent the steering wheel from turning is use plain stupid.

Yes and no. Yes they work if you are dealing with an amateur with no hacksaw.
But realistically, NO they dont work when used without a full steering wheel cover to prevent cutting. Winner International (the club manufacturer) used to make a great and inexpensive full wheel cover, but it has been discontinued due to problems with the horn on some cars. See if you can find one though, I have not seen any other full wheel covers and it is much too risky to go without one IMO.

Here are some ways that I know how to defeat the Club.

You can take a Cobalt Drill Bit and a Cordless Drill and drill through the lock and it slide right out.

You can cut the wheel right by one of the ends of teh club and slide the club out through the cut.

You can take Dry ice gas and blast it on the lock and kick it or hit it with a hammer and it will shatter.

You can take two long pipes and attach it to one end of the club and the club arm open and pull it off.

If these dont dicourage you I dont know what will.

P.S. I can also post how to open a locked Hyundai Excell Door in 2 seconds.
