Default Does your 5th make noise even when it's not on?

I've had my lude for about 3 years now, and I've always had this problem but never thought much about it.

When my car is off, even if it's been off for hours, it will make a kind of low humming noise for about 5 seconds, and then stop. And it will do this maybe 3 or 4 times with about 10 minutes in between. Is this normal? Anyone have any idea what it is?

Like I said, it's done it for 3 years and there hasn't been a problem, but I'm just curious.

No. The fan shouldn't be this loud, and it shouldn't happen after the car has sat for an hour or so.

I know what your talking about, it has pissed me off since i owned the car... One day i had the hood poped and i stood there watching it for like 10 min untill it did it. I think that it comes from underneath the intake manifold. I also would like to know what the noise is

Mine does it as well, and its an Accord...I think it's the EVAP canister pressurizing or something, at least thats were the noise is concentrated..

Yeah i had a '97 accord that did that too. Never figured out what it was but it did sound like it was concentrated in the area of the EVAP canister.

I remember a long time ago reading about this, I believe it was somehow related to fuel, something about purging, I could be wrong though. From what I remember it was normal so I don't think anyone should have a problem.

My '01 does it, and I've been wondering the same thing as well.

hmmmm, i guess i've never noticed it on mine........of course, my evap. cannister isn't even hooked up though. i guess it's understandable that this would occur. how loud is it? is it like a humming, or a ticking sound?

its most likely the fuel system depressurizing. no need to have fuel pressure if the car isn't running.
