Default RR vs. Homestead

I know a few people on this board run Roebling frequently so maybe some will be able to help. I ran RR in Sept and it was a kick *** track but I had more fun at Sebring last weekend due to the fact that Sebring was so much more of a technical track. Can anyone compare Roebling to the Homestead road course as far as techincallity and overall fun. I am looking at either the Jan 26-27 school at RR put on by chin motorsports (BTW, they kick some serious *** I ran with them at sebring last week) or the April date at homestead. Help.

I'm interested in the reponses too b/c I'm having the same problem... Roebling sooner or Homestead later!? BMWCCA is doing a track day at Sebring the same weekend as Chin does Roebling. FWIW the BMW track day is actually 2 days for something like $250-275 I think...

I ran with sunshine biimers @ RR and it was a 2 day school, but we only got 4 hours of track time spread over the 2 days so each day was a lot less eventful than Chin's 1 day of pretty much unlimited track time.

OK. so Chin still wins when it comes to $$ vs. seat time I'm trying to imagine what 2 Chin days at RR would be like... besides just plain exhausting

yea chin definately offers the most time. Im no so much concerened with being exhuasted physically, but I talled it up and for both days its something rediculous like 14 or 17 hours or something. I know this is spread over 2 days, but that would really beat the hell out of the car. If I were to go to RR, which is looking good, I may just do the 1 day for 200 and stay the other day and ride. Actually, now I think about it thats a kick *** idea, ride on Sat to get to learn the track really well with instructors and whatnot, then drive sun. Kick ***, thats what im doing

I didn't realize that they were letting people sign up for just one of the days... I just got done registering for the entire weekend It'll be a pretty relaxed drive for me (only about 2 hours or so )

I'll be driving up on Sat morning and then staying in Savannah Sat night... so if you decide that you're going up there for the entire weekend and want a place to crash on Fri night I've got a spare couch... I know Jax isn't right next to Savannah but it's a hell of alot closer than Orlando!

bitch sell that LSD and you will have plenty of $$$.

Xian- Thanks a lot for your offer! That sounds great, a 2 hour drive early Sat morning is just fine for me even since I will only be driving on Sunday as of now. Ill send you a line as soon as I sign up for the school.

Damn I might have to go just to see the track and to have a few Wish I could afford to run but car needs too many things now and I won't be going that far w/ my car until I can trailer it.

And there is no way in hell that I would get rid of my LSD for anything now!!!!

James- I just talked to santa tonight and he said it was cool. I just sent chin an email asking about the 1 day thing for 200 cause that wasent avaliable when you go to register. If you want to ride up with me to Jax on friday thats cool. As long as your willing to stay all weekend and leave with me sun. evening.

Personally I think RR is one of the nicest tracks in the southeast. It is a track that requires much patience but easy on your car. I like it on street tires for it can be much more forgiving than a shaved race tire. More so on turn 3 and 8 than anywhere else. Really this particular road coure can not be compared to any other. Just look at the track map its like a bunch of on ramps.

Homestead on the other hand is a bit more harder on the car. There is not much run-off room. There are not too many good spots to go off. I got a chance to drive this track several months ago and it is bad ***. It has plenty of variety. From two very fast left handers to very slow second gear chicane. This track will teach you quite a bit on turn in and high speed braking. I was lucky enough to drive my GSR, a spanking new Type R and a setup ITA Integra. All three cars performed spectacular. Do not let this track fool you. It is not a roval like some say but a full on road course.

I know I am going to RR next month. As far as Homestead goes, I will be in Miami the week end before for a ALMS 3 hour race so I am not quite sure yet. Both tracks are good bang for buck fun with the same 4 hour drive North or South.

Hope this helps,
Cliff

Welcome to the board Cliff. I loved RR when I drove it in Sept. with sunshine. Turn 2 the sweeping left hander was pretty sweet and turn 5a and b were both nice and took a while to get em down.

Actually, Ive been talking to Ernie the past 2 days and it looks like you will be instructing me on Sun at RR. See you around.

Sup Clifford, I'll be coming ot RR to watch and ride along w/ some people to get a feel for the track before I run it, besides i'm outta money anyways. I gotta get a few things straightened out w/ my car before I run it again.

I am not quite sure if I will be driving my car or not next month. For tire reasons. I might just do a few laps to hear the sound of 5th gear echoing off pit wall. If you want I can take you (James) for a couple times around to learn the lines.
I am almost sure I am instructing my same student from Homestead in his Type _R with Mugen goodies. Allthough I really dont mine working with anyone else. I have a blast either way.

see you later
Cliff
