I NEED HELP!!!! my car wont start, then it will, then it wont, then it will....
HI,
i'm in despair here. here's the situation. i have a 1995 honda accord ex manual transmission that will start...sometimes! i can drive the car for 5 minutes or 5 hours, stop, turn it off and it will start right back up. i can drive the car for 5 minutes or 5 hours, stop, turn it off and then it WONT start again. i will go back to the car a few hours later or the next day and it will start just fine. i have a brand new starter, battery and the alternator is fine. a local honda dealer had my car on 2 separate instances for a total of 5 days and could not figure out the problem. the problem is intermitent, lately it's been happening every time i drive it. one time i drove from DC to NYC and it wouldnt start for me in NJ. another time i drove the whole way to NYC and i turned it off and it started right back up. i don't get it. i'm on my last chance of hope here. i love the car and it has 188,000 miles on it but runs perfectly besides the starting problem. i've spent over $500 for nothing thus far. a new battery, a new starter, and regrounding a wire from the battery have done nothing. the worst part is that whatever mechanic i take it to, can never get the car to not start for them. only once have they, and then it started by the time they hooked it up to the machine. the car has yet to die completely and starts 100% of the time the following day. please help!!!! sincerely yours, shadow.

Try replacing the main relay under the steering wheel...worked for me.
My problem only happened when the car was hot.
Just a thought ..I'm not a mechanic

When this happens, does the starter spin the engine?
If the starter works, then the main relay is a possibility.
If the starter doesn't spin the engine that's nothing with the main relay. Check the clutch safety switch. There's a switch down at the clutch pedal that's not supposed to let you start the engine unless you have the clutch pedal all the way down. It may also be a flaky ignition switch. You've already checked out everything else...

ive had similar problems before, i would suggest checking the icm or Ignition Control Module inside of your distributor, that could be the problem
