Has anyone installed skunk2 cam gears onto an h22 and not had to cut their middle cover?

I am asking this because the bolts on the skunk2 cam gears stick out slightly further than the tooth ring of the gear. That being said, with the middle cover installed and uncut the bolts would rub against that cover.

Has anyone else experienced this?

 

you got the right idea. you can cut out your valve cover too

 

Right but I mean has absolutely everyone HAD to cut their cover(s)?

I am trying to find out if there is anything out of the ordinary about my setup....

 

i would've had to cut mine as well, but i just left the cover off. but i don't have them anymore so the cover went back on

 

I see, so you did have the same clearance issues that I am having though?

 

Change those bolts out to regular hex heads. That's what I did. The fix was cheap as hell too.

yes i had the same issues.. why didn't skunk2 make the bolts like that in the first place? maybe they never bothered to test fit the cover.. just like they never bothered to design a spot for the iacv or egr vavle on their intake manifold. i think they must have morons working on the H22 parts..

 

Yep, I just brought the cam gear with me to a hardware store and found 16 bolts. I didn't have to cut any of them. I still cut my valve cover for access to the bolt anyway. Get some locking washers while you're there as well.

 

Yes I cut out my valve cover, plus it looks good, when you cut out valve cover. You have to show what you got....

Nice. I can't really tell by the pic, how did you cut it? Did you do it like the moon cut? It looks pretty clean from what I can see.

 

I used "Hole Saw Kit" to make the circle holes for the skunk2 cam gears.

 

damn, very clean

 

Looks very good about how much do one of those saw kits cost? I have some that cut holes for plumbing but I really doubt those are the same ones.
