Default Going to tackle my shock knock today

are everyone, after about 3 years of shock clunking on my 4th gen prelude, i decided to fix the shock knock. i did some research and i hope i can get as much help as possible. I have to shave about 2mm off the collar that looks like a cylinder. (correct me if i am wrong). But for the people who actually did it, how did you break the nut loose on top of the shock and spring? i am going climb into the trunk and somehow take the nut out without taking the strut assembly off, but is anything going to POP out and kill me? Thanks for the help.

Ya just unscrew the top nut (if the assembly starts rotating either grab it with pliers or some have a groove in the top you can stick a wrench on) but don't worry, the suspension will not pop off. The weight of the car is compressing it down. Then remove the washer and you will see a rubber bushing and hopefully the top of the metal collar in the middle of it. Stick some needle nose pliers down there and grab it and slowly pull up. It can take a while but you should be able to slowly work it out. Then grind down one end of the collar about 2-3mm. Replace the collar (may have to push the shock assembly around a little) by just pushing it back in with pliers, hammer, whatever. One of mine went in real easy, the other was a pain.

And FYI, this TOTALLY and completely fixed my shock knock. All I could hear was my jack rattling from time to time so I even took that out and just got some flat tire gunk so I don't hear a single thing now. Silence is wonderful :D
