Default RSX type r vs DC2 type r vs DC2 with k20 type r???

im thinking about investing in a new car. i decided that it would be between 2 cars, the rsx and dc2-r.

i want it to have that new car feel with also some luxury. if i buy the rsx, i will convert to jdm type r specs. same goes to the dc2. i like the rsx because it has a more "luxurious" interior compared to the dc2. i like the type r because its the Arrrrr. im most likely going boost with a fullrace kit so meaning full engine build. i know the k20 in the rsx has so much more potential than the b18c so thats another plus for the rsx. i also know that insurance for the R is IDB in NJ and also its high theft.

theres the third option of buying a dc2 type r and swapping a boosted k20. i know theres a problem of the shifter console not fitting on the dc2 console so thats a negative but i read that hasport is making something to fit? i want it to look as much stock as possible on the interior so you wouldnt know it has a k20a just because the shifter is different.

what do you guys think? what would you guys go for?

hope you have alot of money to burn...

The '05 RSX is really starting to grow on me. Slap an LSD in that thing, and you have a pretty decent car... The '05 has the JDM DC5 "Type R" gearing, and has a better flowing intake an exhaust (among other changes). Plus the interior is +100 times better than the DC-2.

Swapping a K series into a DC2 isn't something that should be taken lightly. Your talking about basically replacing EVERYTHING under the hood... Now it is a kickass motor, but there are easier ways to make alot of power with a DC2.

If only they would make an RSX with double wishbone suspension...

Oh, and if you want some luxury, forget about the DC2 type R. Everything about it is anti-luxury... It's loud, stiff, and harsh (but fun as hell to drive!).

What i hear about the Rsx 05' is that it puts out around the same number such as hp and torque as the JDM one does. So I would get the rsx, lsd add a full-race kit and call it a day.

Aside from the engine, they are total opposites in my opinion....one is luxurious and "modern" looking....the other is bumpy, raw, loud, and "old school" so to say. Total opposites.

If you want to track, I'd get the DC2...if you want to have a nice quiet, smooth ride to work, I'd choose the new RSX.

**** the overweight DC5......

If you want luxury, then go buy a TSX, it has a K Series as well, and a much better suspension.

and the TSX isn't overweight and slow?

most new cars are "overweight" because of all of the safety and emissions requirements.

I'll take a Lotus please...

What up Jon!

Its a 4 door sedan, I expect it to heavy. I don't need to drive around in a 2800lb Sport Compact.

They are becoming bigger and heavier by choice, not necessity.

Actually weight to hp ratio the DC5 Type s is very very close to the Type R

Type S
210HP
2800 Weight
13.33 Ratio

Type R
195HP
2650 Weight
13.5 Ratio

I agree with tsunami_zc Buy a TSX and loose some weight.
Why do you think Spoon and Mugen have stopped basic development of the parts for the Civic,RSX. The TSX is where its at......

im not really into the 2005 rsx look. i prefer the 2004 model. imo the 2005 headlights n tails killed it but other than that its good.

is the type r really like that? its made as a track car and no luxury?

between the type s and type r, what made the type s that much heavier? are the extra parts just some bs parts you dont really need or they actually do something?

The TSX, for a good balance of luxury, and performance potential, with a superb suspension. But by no means would i make a valiant effort to lose alot of weight, other than some smaller Lightweight wheels, an after market (non-dual) exhaust, after market header, painted CF hood, etc.

ummm, lets see:
side airbags
six cd changer / bose
sound deadening
leather interior
six speed tranny
sunroof
bigger wheels, tires, brakes
etc...

RSX = Luxury sports coupe
DC-2 R = Hardcore, street legal track car.

If you want any kindof "luxury" skip the ITR...

Well by all means the DC5 should be much lighter, given the power plant itself weighs less than a b-series, and thats with more displacement, an extra gear, and an LSD (JDM Model).

But the overall size of the car tips it over the scales. Its a BIG car, for what used to be such a small sized market.

Everything about Honda is going big now, I guess they firgure the more obese us Americans get, the bigger the interior needs to be to cater to our fat asses.
