installation for Tach w/ shift light!
Here is what I know:
black--------ground
red----------power (tap from radio signal, so that when the car comes on the tach will come on also)
white--------power/light signal (tap instrument light or fuse)
Green--------rpm signal (big blue wire located on a harness on top of side of distributor)
Make sure you read the instructions that came with the tachometer so that you know how to set your shift light (if it comes with your tach) and so that you know how to set it to your # of cylinders (4,6,8)

bigger is better in the race scene, you get extra rep points, and sponsors will give you unique parts so you can beat eddy.

Get an electricty tester
1. find an empty slot on the fuse box that has power when the accesorys are on(thats your red wire)
2.find another empty slot on the box that has power when the lights are on (thats the white wire)
3.ground the ground wire (black wire)
4.take the coil wire (green) thru the firewall and attach to negitive side of coil
number 4 is where i got lazy and cheated:
i ran the coil wire thru the door jam ---thu the top of the fender worked great because theres a wire you can tap into right there on the top of the engine bay (and i didnt want to just drill thu my firewall and pray i didnt hit anything)- its a little blue wire with a connector thats not connected to anything all by its self above where all the wires lead into the fire wall--in that empty area behind the driverside strut

LX's have tach's, DX don't....If you have power windows on your sedan then you have a tach unless some homo took it out! If you don't have power windows then you don't have an LX or EX.

Dude, there's a post like this everyday it seems and I answer with the same answer.
All the wiring can be done from behind the dash. (The following is for an AUTOMETER tach)
1. Red tach wire goes to black/yellow wire behind dash.
2. White tach wire goes to red/black wire behind dash.
3. Green tach wire goes to blue wire behind dash.
4. Black wire goes to the bolt next to your hood release.

my cx had the same, but if you held your foot on the gas for a certain amount of time, then it would turn on regardless of the RPM I was at.
