it should just come off like a nut off a bolt, just try to twist it to the left, it may take quite a few turns but it should just unscrew

not familiar with 99's but grab the top of the boot, and the ****... keep the boot from twisting too badly, and turn the **** counter clockwise... might be kinda tight

Here are the instructions:

http://www.handa-accessories.c...b.pdf

They (handa-accessories.com) sell the leather Honda shift ***** for $43 or so.

I think it's the unscrewing part that you're having trouble with. Just give it a lot of force, it'll twist off to the left (lefty-loosey, righty-tighty). I have a '99 LX 5-speed, I took my shift **** off in late '98 when I was putting in a trunk mounted CD changer. Mine came off relatively easily as I remember (it's been almost six years).

As a side note, today, October 13, is the 6th anniversary of the day I bought my Accord. In '98, Oct. 13 was on a Monday, Columbus day.

Remember to twist it off in a counter-clock wise motion and not clockwise (lefty loosy, righty tighty)

Almost all Honda's/Acura's have the twist on/off shift **** system. All Accords have this system, twist to the left and pull up at the same time.

IMO dont get a light shift ****, just get a regular one...i think a factory gsr shift **** is pretty good, comfortable and good grip, thats what i have on mine
