Fuggin Freight company destroys my tranny they were to ship
I just check my voice mail on my cell phone and i find out that they somehow dropped my tranny that I was shipping to another board member and that its now leaking whatever fluid is left in my tranny. I have to go see it tomorrow and at least they are offering to pay for it, at least its hour and a half outta my way
i feel bad for the dood i was shipping it too, hes a good guy and i gave him an awesome deal, ill get it fixed im thinking the housing is cracked, i plugged up the axle holes and they said its not leaking from there
Also, why'd you use a freight company? Transmissions aren't that big. Most people just pack and double-box them and ship with UPS or FedEx.
This is why mine is being picked up....
Sorry to hear about the situation, at least it will fixed for you!

How much does a DC2 manual transmission weigh?

I believe they come out around 75-80lbs boxed up.
I've never had a problem shipping transmissions UPS. I go to Uhaul and buy one of their big tv boxes. Cut a piece of plywood to lay in the bottom of the box (or home depot has the right size pre-cut). Then buy a sheet of foam house insulation to cut up. I lay one piece in the bottom, and cut the rest up to line the sides and top.
I used to strap the tranny down to the plywood - which should make it more secure, but I keep forgetting lately.

no fluid i guess it was whaever was left in after i drained it. also UpS would not ship it I swear to god,I couldnt believe it when the told me no
My GS-R tranny was 110lb's, double-boxed, (2) 2'x4's, foam board, tape, packing and all.
I'd say a bare tranny is closer to 90 to 100lb's. It went via Fedex Ground and arrived safely to its destination in NC.
