I believe port work and/or an aftermarket head is considered "cracking open the block".

The problem with this is, for how long? I'm sure someone's going to say they made 300-700whp... with a buttload of NOS, but so what if it explodes 10 seconds later.

With a stock bottom end the above issue remains. What kind of engine like do you require before you consider it acceptable?

I am in the works with a fully done head from portflow so yeah its money I am willing to spend

I am really interested in this because having that reliable h22 botom end with some nice head work and cams is not hard to do, and reliable.

What is your definition of "reliable." That answer will dictate how much hp you can get.

by reliable he means STOCK from the factory in good shape low milage!

And then add lots of head work and great bolt ons.

cant be more clear than that

Or does he mean he wants the resulting high output engine to be "reliable". Can't be more clear then that.
