Hello. Crutchfield.com seems to strongly recommend 6x9 speakers but I measured the factory ones in my car and they are only 6½" diameter. I know very little about car stereo, so will those oval shaped 6.9 speakers replace the round ones in my car without cutting the car in any way? Thanks.

Not sure I understand. Do you mean the 6x9 rears would fit a 1994 but not a 1993? Thanks.

I end all my posts with a smily and 94, also if the stock 6.5 speaker is mounted to the speaker grill and the grill is then mounted to the rear deck, you may be able to install the 6x9s by getting the 6x9 grills out of a 93 Accord that has the upgraded sound system, check the bone yard, or maybe Honda parts dept. 94

 

there recomending 6x9's because some of the 90-93 came with 6x9's. but some also came with 6.5's. so if you have 6.5's then buy 6.5's. you can't fit a 6x9 in the 6.5 hole unless you cut and even then the rear deck will look like ****.

 

Thanks for the info. I called Crutchfield and they assured me the 6x9's would work. They said in the 93 Accord Sedan the 6½" speakers are mounted on brackets in a space made for 6x9's so the 6x9's will fit with no mod's. It all leaves me thoroughly perplexed. I'm going to take the grille off and see for myself this weekend.

Meanwhile, does anyone know which, if any, speaker will fit in the front doors of 4th Generation Accord EX Sedans?
