My 4th gen's sunroof is rusting away. I've heard that I can simply bolt in a 5th gen's glass sunroof into my 4th gen, using the stock track rails. Is this true? If not, do I have any other options besides finding another 4th gen sunroof? Thanks in advance.

 

I'd like to know, too, because they make a 5th gen CF sunroof plug, but not a 4th...

Some one posted pictures of this swap around a month and a half ago. I remember everything fit fine, except the rails had to be shimmed to make the glass sit flush with the roof. Also, there was not room for the sun-shade, so if you installed it, you would always have light coming through the glass.

It looked pretty sweet, though.

 

Well, the actual dimensions of the 5th and 4th gen sunroofs are identical. As far as mounting goes, I don't know.

definitely search it, I was in on this post a long *** time ago...5th gen and 4th gen are the same, can't use the visor from the 5th gen(at least no one had back then), and you need to shim down the sunroof assembly so the glass will sit flush. Pretty bomb *** mod, something that a true luder would catch if you do it!!

 

Thanks everyone, but from what I found from the searches, it seems this isn't as easy as I hoped it'd be. I found many posts where users say that the two gens aren't interchangeable because the corners on a 4th gen sunroof isn't the same as the 5th gen. Good news is that glass conversion kits are made for our 4th gens but... bad news, they cost over $300. Check out sunroofdoctor.com to see. If I'm wrong, please correct me on any of this.

 

Double check with the search, but RHD_BB4T did this in his ride, I believe...as well as a full rhd drive setup in progress!! amazing!! but IM him, and if he didn't do it I will try to find who did...He was successful, for all that I know, but maybe it turned out to be a flop
