Default Wanna buy a CiviC

Hi yall!
This is my first post, so dont wonder if it sounds strange... ;-)

I'm planning on buying myself a 1998-2000 Honda Civic Coupe next year.
I am planning to get a 1.6litre version with at least 100hp, better even over 125hp.
First i want to clear, what the model name is. Is it the EJ6? Here an example picture:

I probably wont be able to buy myself the Si, since i live in germany and evrythings more expensive over here. The Si is hardy for sale over here anyways...

Since this will be my first car and im planning on keeping it for a while, ill probably build in a new motor after about 2 years. ive heard the H22A is a good idea...
When i then want to buy myself a turbocharger, will it have to be for that model motor?

also, i want to build in 2 15" subwoofers into the middle of the rear seats. can i then use the trunk as woofer box, or must i build in a seperate one?

what is the maximum size rims able to fit onto the car? or what would you advise to get for a size?

i know this one sounds riddiculous, but in the game NFS underground, there are these pitch black tail lights, that completely light up red if you hit the breaks. do those taillights exist? if yes, where can i get them? of is there a trick to convert the standard ones to those?
here sum pix:

so. i cant think of any questions at the moment... ;-)
i hope im not asking too much, or the wrong questions...

thx.
The Raz

H22A isn't a bad motor it just all depends on what you want to build. Euro spec civics have a few differences. You can put any turbo you like on any motor you just have to get the correct exhaust manifold and downpipe and such.

also, i want to build in 2 15" subwoofers into the middle of the rear seats. can i then use the trunk as woofer box, or must i build in a seperate one?

If you want a fast car I wouldn't advise a big heavy stereo system but if thats what you want to do then I would go with a seperate or custom box. The guys in the stereo forum might be more help when you can post there.

what is the maximum size rims able to fit onto the car? or what would you advise to get for a size?

You can fit anything from 17-19" wheels but the bigger you go the more problems you will have. 16's would be better for overall driveability. The bigger you go you will be rolling fenders and not lowering the car as much max I would go if you want to lower it and still drive it is 17's.

i know this one sounds rediculous, but in the game NFS underground, there are these pitch black tail lights, that completely light up red if you hit the breaks. do those taillights exist? if yes, where can i get them? of is there a trick to convert the standard ones to those?

I have no idea on this one

Good Luck and wilkomen

wow. thx for the fast reply... :D

i was thinking bout 17" enkeis, if theyre available over here...

i found a site for handa turbochargers, and a site for stuff like engine swaps, but liek building in a complete engine with transmission and so costs like 5.000$ for a H22A, plus the turbochargers for that motor cost between 1.500$ and 3.500$. so ill prolly wait on that one... ;-)

i dont only want a fast car, it has to have some music in it too ;-)
but i wouldnt be going into the extreme style tuning, so i think a reasonably street style raer with good bass in it will do the trick.

oh yeah... airride! is it any good? i live in a hilly region. is it possible to get an automatic customization for the airride, so that it automatically lowers or lifts the suspension when getting to a leveled road? or should i just keep to a sport suspension without airride and just leave it at a normal street racing hight?

As far as the H22 and putting a turbo on there, look around in the Forced Induction forum. They can help you out a lot I'm sure.

For 2 15" subs in the back, UtahRockabilly is right. Large, heavy stereo systems are not condusive to having a quick car.

I think maybe for the tailights you're thinking about ones that are painted with a transparent black paint. You can buy it here http://www.autodynamic.com.

Again, with the wheels, some will tell you bigger wheels mean more weight which means slower yet. I would stick with something around 15"-16" IMO.

I can't say much about the air suspension. I've always stuck with normal springs/struts and have no complaints.

You can do something similar to what i have. i have all clear tails, with most of it lightly tinted black, and the bottom half of the outside pieces(92 hatch) are tinted red. all of the lights except the reverse light up red. if you wanna get all black, you can get clear tails and tint them, and use red bulbs inside.

for the tint, there's some made for model cars, called window tint for them, can't remember who makes them. there's also Nite Shades, seen here: http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/nc...r=361

well, as said, its not gonna be a hardcore performance car, not gonna put in stabilizers and such. if id want a pro racer, id also take out the whole rear bench and all, but wuteva... ;-)

yeah, 16" rims arent bad either, but 17"s just look cool :D

as you see in the pictures, the taillights arent really black, rather a enormly deep red (left picture without breaking). when hitting the breaks tho, they light up bright red like a christmas tree ;-) (right picture)

i dont want to see any other color on the lights exept the red, so the yellow turning indicators and the white reverse light must have very strong bulbs to overlight the red...

sumthing like these

but completely in red...

btw thx for the nite shade black light color, looks very interesting ;-)

"Going" fast is allot more fun then "looking" fast

buy yourself a stock car, and save all your money for your H22. in the mean time, read everything on this board. and by the time you swap your engine in, you wont want to rice out your car anymore. you'll keep on wanting to go faster and or handle better ...

hm...
i know this really sounds shitty, bit id like to go 2 Fast 2 Furious style *lol*
not to sound childish, i want a fast car, but taxes and insurance go by motor size over here. so i want a fast enough motor that wont blow. meaning, if id be able to get a turbo for the 1.6litre engine, without blowing it, id be fine too. sure going fast is fun, but i dont want a car looking like ****. and a good sound system is an important feature too. but not as exagerated as in "Pimp my Ride". i hate their style, and they dont touch the motor.

its possible to put a duplex exhaust system on a civic coupe, right? i loved the sound of the BMW Z4 when test driving it. so if its possible to get that kinda bassfilled, purring sound for my ride, id be fine. i dont like the loud screaming sounds... :-/

btw: toyo or yokohama?

Well since he lives in germany he's got the auto bahn but over here having a car that can do 150+ mph isn't pratical when we can only do like 65. But I still agree I'd rather go fast than look it. Dual exaust isn't pratcial with 4 cyl. cars only on the v6's and v8's where you have 2 headers. But as the model your looking at I have always known it as the EK. And I would choose yokohama..

If you really want that style your really in the wrong place most of us here aren't into that style and you will get a lot of grief for it.

The appearance forum on here might have a few guys that can help you out with that when you can post there.

The motor stuff we can help you out with. There are tons of posts on here about various swaps and the ups and downs of each as well as the different directions you can go with each motor and what setups work best. I would advise doing a search on each engine type and learning as much as you can about each one and then decide which will work for you best.

Good Luck again

I use to have a full body kit/17's, pearl black on eg hatch with a stock cx d15 motor...looked fast...but could barely get over 75 mph....and now I have a new eg hatch with a b16a2 swap and have spent most the money on the motor and let me tell you...after having both types of cars yeah its nice to get everyones attention when you pull into a parking lot but when you pull up to the light vs a stock 89 honda accord and can't even take that...it really ruins the car and I would keep my new hatch with the swap over my old riced out show one anyday. Trust me looks are nice for a week but in the long run you will be happier with a fast car.

Are Type R's available in Germany? I'd say if they are get that. Then your set on performance then your free to do whatever you want to it cosmetically. I'm not into the whole F&F look but whatever man. It's your car, enjoy.

from what ive heard rite now, im pretty convinced, but not converted.
i will be souping up the optics on my car, but that will be after getting my speeds rite.
so. the most important thing is to have a fast care. full stop. but on the way there it wont hurt to build in a reasonable sound system into the car. not meaning that the amp will be stronger than the motor, but listening to stock speakers is definitively a no-no.

this sounds very unprofessional (hell, im no pro!), but what would be the cheapest way of getting a fast car without having to get a new motor after half year cuz the motor blew?

im not that good at specific definitions and my technical vocabulary isnt the best, but i know the basics of a motor and im a fast learner.

or should i start of with this:
-is there somewhere to look up what type civic is meant by there model name? (EK, EJ...)
-whats up with the extensions? EX, DX, LX...
-what diffrent motors are there and what are the diffrences? B-motors, H-motors...
