please help with an oil change
I am trying to change the oil on my mom's 1994 honda accord for the first time... and in the manual it says "Always use an oil that says API Service SG or SH" but the oil that i have is API Service SL/CF Mobile 1 5w-30. can i use that same oil on the honda? I always thought that auto shops use the same oil for all cars? also how much oil do i need for the oil change
Please help, i am doing it right now
Thanks
Sergei

The API specs always keep getting better. So the car wants an API SG or SH, but that stuff's obsolete. SL is a newer spec, it's pretty safe that it ALSO satisfies SG & SH. Besides, Mobil 1 is a mighty good oil...
S? is a spec for gasoline engines (S for spark-ignition)
C? is a spec for diesel engines (C for compression-ignition)
Then the 2nd letter keeps getting higher as API invents new specs. (If you find a bottle of oil that says API-SF that means it's been sitting on the shelf for many years...)
