Default Gas

Anyone running 89 or 87 in their 2004 or 2005 V6 EX Accord? Manual says anything above 86 octane will do but I'm just fishing for opinions. Yes this was searched.

Yeah, several months back we had a discussion on this I always advocated the higher octane but I was in the minority. Now that I've stuffed a turbo in, I know its 93 octane or bust (literally)

if the manual says 86 then 87 would be the best, go with the lowest octane possible as long as no knocking occurs

When I had my V6 Accord I was running all 3 just to test. Couldn't really feel the difference between 89 and 93 but with both of those the car was running somewhat smoother than on 87 and had less hesitation. People did tests a while back and they claimed when they dynoed their cars with 87 and 93 there was difference of 10hp ... who knows for sure.
I ended up running mine on 87 because it was cheapest and it still ran fairly well.

Hmm... I think you mean nothing below 86 octane? Cause i've been hearing about some reports that people are getting knocks and pings even with 87 gas. 91/92/93 octane is actually optimal, since the engine was practically designed to run with that level of octane.
