Default Transmission fluid

When do you check the AT Fluid when its running, cold, after you've shut off the engine?
Dont have the hand book oh its a 99 ex v6 accord

warm up the engine to operating temperature
then check it with the engine off, trans in park
then you know the rest....blah....blah....

just in case someone is wondering, this applies to ALL hondas.
