Default Engine gurus >>> SCCA Street Modified project questions

First, I must apologize for these questions, but the search engine is fickle at times!

After autocrossing for 10 seasons in the SCCA with a D15B7 in various Street Prepared (CSP, FSP) and Street Touring (STS, STX) classes, I decided to go to Street Modified with a B16A2 from a 99 Si...

We were planning on installing ITR cams and leaving the OEM B16A2 valvetrain intact during the offseason.

* Other than adjusting valve lash to B16 specs, is there any negative effect from this combo?

* Will the B16 valvetrain reliably handle the increased lift and rigors of autocrossing (and open-track sessions)?

* Additionally, we have installed a Skunk2 program (4800 engagement, 9000 redline) but aren't sure if the redline is too high for a stock B16 valvetrain; many say the stock components are good for 8500-8700 rpm. Granted, I have researched and discovered that this is a good program to use once we install the cams... Most say we're OK, any other agreements or disagreements?

* While I'm typing, we have a XS Engineering (5100 engagement, 8500 redline) chip that the seller says is for DOHC cars, yet all the research I have found says this is for the SOHC D16Z6 only. What leads me to believe this further is that 90% of the B-series chips out there feature 9000+ redlines, whereas the D-series chips feature high 7000's to high 8000's for redline. Anybody verify this for me?

Thanks again,

Anthony "Mario" Crea
