I was driving my 91DX with a D16 swap, when all of a sudden the dash lights went dim, my cd player started restaring (turning on and off) and it stared bogging down while accellerating and smoking like it was running rich. I got it home and shut it off, and it won't restart (like the batt is dead) The battery is new, and it always held a charge until my ride home tonight. Any ideas?

Someone told me that it could be a bad ground. could this be true? would this cause the problems that I seem to be having? I was told if it was an alt, my alt light would have come on.

I'm stumped.. anyone have any ideas? TYIA

 

go test your alternator..

 

Whats the best way to test the alt? The only way I know is to get it running and disconnect the pos terminal.

 

take it out and take it to autozone they will test it for free.

 

take the alt. out huh? so I'm assuming I would need some sort of screw driver for that?
