Default how to set proper ign timing with timing gun

ok..i know how the timing gun work...and different marks that show while the timing gun is flashing...
my motor is running pretty rich...with some bolt on such as CAI/e/H....where do i set the timing ign that can be called safe

second how do i know how much advanced timing i need to counter running too rich...

you dont use timing to tune fuel aka running rich/lean. As far as timing just set to stock factory spec's. There is a great article on setting ignition timing at c-speedracing.com
