So my dad's 91 accord decided to act weird today. He said he drove on the highway and it would stay at ~4k RPM at 60-65mph. I took it for a spin and the first thing i noticed was that it felt really slow to start off. Long story short, it won't change out of 2nd gear. I tried driving ~40mph, and then going WOT and it wouldn't downshift. It will go to 1st gear if you do D1, but other than that it stays in 2nd gear all the time. Is this a sign of the tranny going bad? or a small problem? Tranny fluid? TCM? VSS?

I forgot to mention, the S for sports mode is always on. I clicked the button multiple times but it doesn't turn off

 

That S light is also used for error signals. Check your manual.
