***PICS*** Del Sol X brace Help Please
2 things to think about,
1- are you going to retain the factory seat belts or go a different route,
2- If I were to weld anything to the car that's not under it, I would use a TIG.
Stronger = safety

if you're a bit handy in welding you could make a roll bar like I did and attach the seatbelts to it, on the other hand I welded a cross brace behind the bar from side to side and made it so that it was bolted to the chassis and could be removed at all times

I own a del sol and I'm hating the fact that soon I will have to install a cage due to track regulations. Its not that I dont love welding but del sols have the weight disadvantage in the beginning
well I live in the Netherlands and the law states that seatbelts should be properly fastened to the chassis....and in this way they are..
what kind of tubing did u use? and how thick? also did u bend it yourself? i was thinking maby a torch and just bending it i would just be worried abuot the striength of it after and kinking the metal,

Some might call your car rice here in the u.s., but i really like it. Especially since you did the majority of the work yourself, and the style is the norm in europe/etc. (like the exhaust)...which is really unique. I wish I could Have that kind of roll cage in my sol! Good work on everything! Also, what kind of gauges are those? What kind of plate did you use to block off the main a/c vent in the middle?

thanks, the gauges are S.P.A design, a british company. I used aluminium plate to block off the vent. the exhaust was an experiment for which I had to remodel the entire spare wheel whell. all of it including the engine was kind of an experiment to test the extremities of what I could get away with at the yearly inspection we have over here. all went well and the car is already sold.
