HELP!!! HONDATA INSTALL ON 00' AUTOMATIC LS TEG. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROLER????
I am about to install a Hondata S200 system onto a 00' integra LS automatic. Hondata told me that I will need to play with the pinouts on the jumper harness to get the transmission and torque converter to shift and lock up correctly. I ask Boombslang to make me a custom harness and they said it would be no problem. They told me that I would need the following:
- OBD1 automatic ECU
- OBD1 LS integra automatic transmission controler
They told me that I need to aquire these two items and let them know what the numbers say on each one. The ECU was already in the plan. But I never knew that there was a transmission controler for the Acura/Honda automatics. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to locate one. Does anyone have any ideas? If this does exist will one from, say a 92' automatic civic hatch work?

I am not an expert but can provide some information based on my experience with a GSR automatic swap into my automatic 92 Integra. There is a TCM on all automatic integras in North America. In Japan there is no TCM but the ECM performs the functions and has an extra connector. Be careful what you ask for. I do know that the 90-93 automatics are quite different than the 94-95 automatic. The transmission is quite different and so is the controller. I have a 92 car and a 94 engine with transmission. Upon obtaining the wiring diagrams for both, I confirmed that the TCMs have different wiring. The tranny has different functions. Given that you have a 00 model, you should stay away from the 90-93 TCM. The ECU that matches a 94-95 TCM is a P74 but I think a PR3 would work as well. They are both OBD1. Make sure its an automatic ECU. There is an extra ROM on the circuit board that tells you that. Check this site for information on identifying the difference between AT and MT ECUs.

thank you for the info.
yes I am deffinatley going to be staying away from the 93 and older. it will be 94-95 LS trans controler. I have a junked 92' Civic Hatch that was an auto at one time. That is a true OBD1 not a crossover year or anything. I wander if it has the controler also and if so, does it work or is it the same as the 94-95 LS TCM? haha the plot thickens! I will look over the link that you posted and get back with you! Again Thank YOU!

ok, so just hypothetically speaking what do you do for this scenario?:
you have an automatic civic 92-95 and you swap an automatic 94-95 LS engine tranny into it. You want to use the LS ecu.
Will you have to swap the trans controler box also? and if so, does the civic have the plug already there for this, or will you have to do some custom wiring?
Or, will you just need to rechip or go with a Hondata and use the original Civic ecu?
Just asking so if the situation ever presents itself I will be prepared.

Yes, you will have to swap in the auto TCM for the integra into that civic. You will need to do some rewiring or have a conversion harness built.
As far as your setup goes, I have done it before and you will need the Auto OBd1 ecu and the Auto OBD1 TCM. The civics do not use the TCM, but the integras do. Check my site for a sample pic of an auto to auto OBD2-1 harness for an accord. That will get you an idea of what they look like. Also my sale post in the sponsors section for more pics as well.

if it was me i would use an automatic p06 ecu and chip it with fuel and ignition maps for the integra engine, and let the onboard tranny computer handle shifting. though the onyl issue with that is the shift points may not be wehre you want them..and i know of no way to change those.

I know of no one who has gotten the tranny to work correctly using an OBD1 ecu with and OBD2 transmission in an OBD2 car.
My suggestion: loose the auto trans and get a manual.

I will confirm that. The problem when converting only the ecu on many setups, is that many sensors that are on the OBD2 auto trannies, are not present on the OBd1 tranny because these sensors have been replaced by cable linkages. Therefore, OBD1 ecu will not work the required OBD2 sensors, etc. On this setup, it is wise to keep the ecu/tcm in the same OBD generation.

Hey guys, the post has gotten away from the original post. This post is about installing a Hondata S200 system into an Automatic turbo 00' Integra LS. Using the OBD1 ECU and TCM. The whole Civic discussion was just hypothetically FYI type thing. Thank you all for your info!
