Default Seperating front UCA ball joint

ok I'm trying to install an omnipower front camber kit (it replaces the front uca) on my eg. I removed the castle nut on the ball joint stud and pulled and hit the UCA with a hammer a few times and generally fucked with it but it wouldn't seperate.

so i'm guessing i need a ball joint seperator. i guess i'm gonna go to pep boys and rent the set. my question is: when i have the ball joint seperator do I just wedge it in there and wiggle it around or what?

the omni uca has a new ball joint in it so im not too concerned about damaging the original one..

if you go to pep boys you could try using a fork. it's around $10 and that should work

A few times? If your car is a 92, you have to keep hitting it for a while, you really need to "shock" the ball joint loose if there is a lot of corrosion on there. My 97 didnt need that many whacks.

I do these at work all the time. Get a steel headed hammer and knock the hell out of it. when that doesn't work get pissed off and hit it harder. It'll come loose.
