Longtime ITR forum faithful going STi
I haven't been that active here lately, but as you can see from my post count I've been here a looooong time.
I still miss my ITR and I'm hoping going to an STi will bring some of those feelings back.
Subaru sent me a letter in the mail with a good guaranteed trade in value that was actually better than when I was looking 6-8 months ago. They also offered $500 in Subaru bucks (can be used on service/parts, etc). I was just dreaming about it at first and what helped it to become a reality was when they offered me an STi at invoice (we have 4 dealers in my area and competition is tough).
I originally wanted the new Crystal Grey Metallic, but I'm going with Obsidian Black.
Wish me luck with my new STi.
Someday I'll have another ITR though...

It's honestly not hype.
After driving my lightly modded WRX...then my friend's STi it's NIGHT AND DAY!!!
It's unreal seriously. No hype here.
Go drive one if you get the chance.

Absolutely!
It didn't win "Car of the Year" from Road & Track for nothing.
When it's time for me to get another daily driver I will seriously consider one or the EVO MR.

Definately. The EVOs are damn nice. However two things kept me away from Mitsu. Their financial condition and they're not cool about warranties (they like to write down VINs and void them for AutoX, etc).

My friend bought a black STi and he loves it. He drove on a track (Thunderhill in NorCal) and couldn't get the rear to step out. He had a lot of fun. But now that he finally has some seat time on the track he is going to push a lot harder next time.
ON a side note, he saw a new 911 go off the track and then shoot across the track in front of him into a wall! His instincts to slow down and slamming on the big fat Brembo's saved him!

That looks really nice. Seems like a lot of peeps are leaning towards the STi or, even, the Evo. Good choice though. With all the little goodies it comes with the only thing stopping me from gettin' one is the price. Congrats.

Actually, they made the pink more red in the 05's. But who cares? I'll drive a car with pink stickers as long as its fast!
I don't like silver on a car but I saw a crystal grey on the road the other day and it looked really nice.
The 05's have some significant changes vs. the 04's (from cars101.com):
Helical Front limited slip differential (Suretrac in 04')
power steering oil cooler
wider 8" wheel (replaces 7.5")
rear wheel arch flares, body colored (because the new 8" whl?)
Immobilizer key, 3 supplied.
Yaw sensor (part of the lateral G sensor)
climate control (04' was semi auto)
air filtration
smoked headlight lens
re-designed keyless remote fob
seat cushion side bolster material
center console cupholders, replaces the one by the center vent
am/fm/CD changer w/ bass, mid, treble adjustments, 6 spkrs (they claimed weight reduction in 04' to limit gas guzzler tax. yeah right! )
door armrest redesigned, now cloth, includes mirror controls
new colors
I don't like how they changed the sticker on the side to a two-row type. It looked better being a long single row. What am I talking about? Who cares? Just drive!
I haven't seen the new interior in person but I prefer the 04'-. The new one was only made because Saab wanted to make the 9-2X look more upscale (my speculation). No auto manufacturer would do a double refresh especially since the new impreza is supposedly due up in 06'.
Even though the new additions to the 05' STi are welcomed, I don't feel that they make enough difference to make me regret owning an 04'.

I agree about the silver, just doesn't show the body lines like WRB and Black do. But if you have owned several Black cars choosing Silver is a easy choice especially if you want your car to always look clean. My .02
