Default Short (height) shifter levers for RSX and how to install them ?

Not to confuse with a short throw shifter, my main interest is a short shifter-lever (stick) in height. I know about rewelding the shifter and all that, but leaving that as a last resort, I'm looking for an alternative for a short height shifter.

I know that Revo makes a nice looking shorter shifter that comes pre-installed in a brand new RSX shifter box, but how the hell did they install their lever into the RSX box?? (very carefully I assume ..lol)

What other manufactures make a shorter-height shifter for RSX that doesn't come pre-installed in a brand new RSX shifter box? ...leaving it up to the end user to install the shifter into their own RSX shift box with detailed instructions?

Bottom line, I have access to a Euro-R shifter lever (which is shorter & angles toward the driver) and I want to put in an RSX shift box, but extracting the shift lever outta the shift box is a tremendous pain in the *** and I'm weary of breaking an important plastic piece that holds the shift lever in place. That's why I'm wondering if a manufacturer out there makes a stand alone shift lever w/detailed install instructions...

thanks for any help...

i think it'd be very possible to just cut and rethread the stick. there is that long chunk of it that's just straight and ....existing there. hehe

...heh, after some deeper searching I found my answer.

Steps 19-21 on the B&M short shifter PDF install file shows how to extract the OEM RSX shifter.

...that damn square plastic retainer clip is the main problem I'm having...

I have a revo SS and it works like a champ! my shifter is so short its not even funny!
I heard that comptech has a good one too. B&M Is just a rape!!
Here are the instructions of how to put in a REVO or similar
Tools and Parts Required:
1. 3/8 Ratchet with 6" extension
2. 12mm socket
3. Phillips Screwdriver
4. Flat head screwdriver
5. Stubby Phillips head screwdriver
6. Needle nose pliers
7. Electrical or masking tape

Step 1: Remove the shift ****.
Step 2: Remove the shift boot console. You need to pull up really hard on the edge at the cup holders.
Step 4: Remove the rear screws of the center console located in the back seat.
Step 5: Remove the cigarette lighter panel by using a small screw driver.
Tip: Tape up the end of the screw driver to prevent any damage to the plastic.
Step 6: Using a stubby screw driver, remove the two plastic screws in the middle of the console.
Step 7: Pull both front corners of the console until the clips are released.
Step 8: At the back of the console, you need to disconnect the rear power outlet. It is a little hard to pull off the first time, but keep pulling, it will come off. You might want to wear gloves to prevent cutting your hand.
Step 9: Remove the center console by lifting up from the back first. It should slide out pretty easily. It is the easiest to move it to the back of the car and place it in the back seat.
Step 10: Remove the sound deadening foam. Remove the two pins holding in the two cables using the needle nose pliers. Remove the metal clip by prying upwards while the black plastic holder on the left must be turned counter clockwise until it slides out (this will give you resistance, just keep turning). Then Remove the four screws holding in the shifter.
Step 11: Remove the shifter from the car.
Step 12: Remove the rubber bushings from the stock shifter. Use needle nose pliers to push the rubber bushings out. This step can be skipped if installing aftermarket shift kit.
Step 13: Place the metal bushings over the stock mounting holes and reinstall the shifter following steps 1 thru 10 in reverse order.
Tip: Place a little tape over the metal bracket to keep it from rattling.
Hope that helps
Zulu

another thing you can do is find yourself a shift **** that doesnt screw on but has the 3 small screws that tighten it down, and you cut off the shifter rod till its as short as you want it to be and then you fasten the **** to the rod like that and it will be VERY short. Chris, from crsx.com did that it looked hella good
