warranty headlights
well, i was fortunate enough to have my bubbling housings replaced last month under warranty.....
well..... it is now a month later and the new housings are starting to bubble....
i think it is a design flaw...
i was talking to my friend, who is head tech at my dealership about the headlights.... he was telling me that the ballasts for the hid's is mounted to the bottom of the housing....
therefore my conclusion is that the ballasts are getting so hot that it is causing the paint to bubble....
any other ideas?
to those that have had theirs warrantied, have you looked at your new housings lately?
or is this just a freak thing that is only happening to me....

mine is doing this also, i remeber there was a group of people on s2ki that mention this, i felt liek i was the only one. i have pictures at home, how bad is ur bubbling?
The only kind of bubbling incidents I remember seeing are those with Stongard (or similar 3M product) installed on them. Those cases where the bubbling incidents happened, at least the ones I witnessed, were outdoor stored cars - during the day / during the night.
If this fits your scenario, don't install the 3M products on these lights.

here are a couple pics......
the last set of housings were worse than this..... however, they were on the car for 4 years, and these have only been on the car for a month
i would imagine as time goes on it will get worse....

lol its tought trying to drive it, and i had a mentality of wanting to keep it clean and scared of adding mileage, haha we should start one. 12k is pretty low. what year is it a 2000? im guessing from what u or others have said that its the hid heating the headights up. where did u get urs fixed? i need to take mine, plus one side foged up once for some reason. did most of u have ur tail lights fixed?

do these ballasts get hot enough to do that? I would first say it might be isolated to a series of VIN#'s as opposed to the ballast location. I have no bubbles in my headlights. Daily drove the car for 2 years, then it was mainly track driven the 3rd year.

If I was in your position I would demand them replaced again and this time with the 2004 Headlamps because the dont have the same issues from what you have read online and that ud be willing to pay a little extra
thats what my bud did and he had to B^tch alot but they ended up doing it and not even charging the extra since he offered to pay
