They call it this because you use 2 different engine parts to build this. Ls bottom, si head etc.

i believe a stock LSVTEC puts down about 140-150whp. you have the tq of the LS and high end of teh VTEC head

lsvtec's cant rev for **** if they're stock because ls blocks are very unstable after 7200rpm...
If I did lsvtec I would at least get a gsr girdle and arp bolts...

I'd recommend doing it yourself unless you know the person who put it together.

Dont need to go to a machine shop anymore to do ls vtec...
GE's lsvtec/b20vtec kit works great and requires no machining..
U can find them cheaper then what GE is sellin them for though..

it sounds like hatch91jdm, seems alittle bit of a noob to motors, so i wouldnt reccomend doin it himself imo. just to keep it on the safe side

ok. honda tuning is doing a good write up of one this month. when i get home, i will scan it all in and show you.

the ls block is a good block but it needs a gsr or type r girdle to help hold things together and you need to get new bearings and forged rods as well as arp bolts to be able to "safely" rev into the upper rpms. a friend in town did an ls vtec and it puts down just a little over 190 with hondata tuned. you can make nice numbers but i think if you are spending all that time and money for that project, why not just go ahead and get a gsr and build it up right.

Gs-R motors are overpriced IMO nowadays.

You gotta learn about motors sometime, but since your in the military how will you find time to do this???

LS blocks are unstable at high rpms if they are stock due to the shitty stroke ratio.
So what are u talkin about..?

because the LS r/s ratio is hardly any worse than a gsr. nothing significant to worry about for any practical means

I would not buy a LS/Vtec from anyone, unless I watched them put the thing together and they guarentee it.

One other thing to mention about LS/Vtec. Most people blow their engine because the oil pressure is not high enough when vtec kicks-in.
