Default SHould i use p28 or P30 for B16a Turbo OBD1

Looking for P30 ECU that is boost ready, for support to my B16a Turbo OBD1. I am pretty damn sure this is what i should be running. I currently have a P28 with Uberdata system. But i was looking at hybrid garage .com and i think i should be using the P30 ECU. that is for DOHC VTEC, can anyone confirm this?

Yes, the P30 ECU is for the DOHC VTEC B16A.

The P28 ECU is for the SOHC VTEC D16Z6.

Thanks so i take it, use the p30, why are so many people using chipped p28's for their B16a's?

Maybe it's easier to chip a P28 to increase some potential than to find a virgin P30, pay extra, only to chip that one aswell?

I know this isn't about the P28 or the P30, but my B16 swap came with a P72. I know the ouputs from the GSR ecu are a little different from those of the P30, so would it be more beneficial to swap it (ecu) out for a P30. Or is it going to work out the same to have the P72. Sorry about all the numbers. Thanks.

Good question, i know the 72 is out of 96-00 GSR, i wonder if that would be bennificial, or is a DOHC Ecu a DOHC ecu? I just need to find the best ecy for both DOHC vtec and My BOOST, when i read that p28 bis for sohc i was like O ****. But as long as it isnt bad for my motor with the uberdata, i am releived.

P72 came with all GSR motors from 94-00. And no it wont be better for your car, your not running secondaires, your car will run like ****.

What is the chip setting on the P28? If you could get it rechipped with Uberdata then i would use that, if not, just chip your P30 for uberdata or something. But until then you could just use the P30 and VAFC for boost.

Im using my stock P72 and VAFC for my boost, doing a great job

MY P28 with uberdata chip, is programmed in for boost, my car drives really nice, extreme power, but i have been having a idle problem, surges, no vacume leak, it only happens for a while and stops. it is bizzare. i changed the IAC with a new one, i keep throwing code 14, which is IACV, i think the wires going from IACV to ECU may be bad, i am going to run all new wires from it today. I also made sure my FITV plastic plug ma bob was screwed in tight too. I was just conserned if i was running right computer or not. But yeah my p28 uberdata, is great.

Im sure you figured it out already, but like they said...

Either p28 and p30 will be fine for your setup. a USDM p30 will probably one of the harder ECU's to find as they came in the rare del sol VTEC's.

I use a p28 with uberdata and have no problem with the b16.

p72 is for gsr - no point in using it for the b16, 1) b16 doesnt have secondaries 2) too much fuel -> bog and drives like ****!
