Has anyone tired out the Falken Azenis?
What would you rate the Falken Azenis for dry traction off the launch from a scale 1-10? How high could you rev the RPM for a good lauch? Was it worth your money?

The azenis is the best performance tire available for the money.....
U dont have to be rich just to by tires...Thats why they're so popular..
And they perform very well..

at first they suck, then once broken in. they grip like no other.
in the rain, they suck. not like ef's are the best in the rain to begin with.

they are great tires. _ok_ for drag style launches, but not better than slicks. i have Nitto 555R drag radials, and they launch about the same as the falkens. a good rpm? hmm - probably your best bet for a launch with a D16 is around 4,000 rpm. with my B18Cr I give a quick slip at 6,000 (launching in vtec is much quicker!)
anyway. if you get these tires, do NOT go driving in heavy rain. they will try to kill you.
excellent autocross tire. highly recommended.
With their stiff sidewalls, the Azenis are not the best tires out there for drag racing. But they sure do handle on the road. After all, they are an autocross tire. I should also mention that they do wear quickly. But with a price tag that is lower than even most crappy allseason tires, this is not really a big deal.
can anyone recommend a good tire that provides some nice grip but wont hydroplane all day long on me in the rain
i live in seattle ( = rain) and am looking for some decent tires.

i've used them all this past summer. my whole set is almost completly bald now. i've had two really good track days on the whole set....rotation to make them last longer. The were great in the rain when i had alot of rubber, but not so much anymore.
the down side to azenis is they are very very heavy, but they are cheap and made very well.
at drag days i launch our around 4500-5000 rpms with 12-15psi in the tires. pulls hard and im getting 2.2 60 fts which is good for street tires.

i used to have the azenis on my civic and they were great! i loved em! there is just one thing that i disagree with everyone else on here, and that is the tire wear. I had my azenis on my car for 25,000 miles and that included 19 autocrosses with at least me driving my car and about half of them with a co-driver, and these tires were used. so, i managed to get about 30,000 miles out of one set of tires. and no, they weren't bald - i was just bearly into the wear bar on two of the tires. if you are looking for some really good tires that are pretty grippy and can handle well in the rain, i have been trying out some michelin tires - they are michelin pilot exalto's and they can handle some pretty good dry pavement and seem to do very well in the rain. even on the highway in the rain i haven't had any problems with them.
ive had azenis and i love them, they were great for my car in the rain (when they had tread) and i loved the way they would grip the road, the car handled awesome with them. As far as wear they sucks, and for dragracing they also suck, theyre comparable to most other tires for drag racing, but they dont compare to a drag radial or slick at all. if you let out alot of pressure you can get them to hook up.
Azenis are a great tire for only $60 each, nothing even compares to them. Let me establish something, Azenis are not that great for drag racing if that is what your looking for. Like Mansion mentioned earlier the sidewalls are stiff for autox not drag racing. Yeah they are heavy 24lbs each but who cares, inertia yeah yeah who cares, its only a street race. Also they HATE heat so burnouts are not user friendly with these tires.

Yokohama AVS ES100's get my vote. They can be had for around the same price as the azenis, have great wet/dry traction, and they are not loud on the highways like the azenis (if that sort of thing bugs you).

Everyone always complains about Azenis be terrible in the rain. What the hell kind of driving are you guys doing in the rain on public roads.
