WTF what did they say to? or what kinda ticket did you get? and what do you have on your car? Sorry for so many questions but cops **** me off. If i were you i would try to find out as much as you can about the laws before you put your car back to stock. You can go down to your local police station or court house and ask to see the Statuets of the laws which govern motor vehicles/modifications/requirements/CARB legal i hope i spelled that right. But they should let you see them or maybe even give you a copy of the laws. Good luck guy and if i lived near you i would help you out.

Oh yeah i forgot to ask you did they ask to pop your hood? Or did they tell you to? Im not sure exactly how the laws are there. But in the future this goes for everyone say NO. You may **** them off and they may pull out some bullshit reply, like your obstructing justice. Cops think were dumb asses, I've been pulled over many off times for BS reasons, and i just talked **** to the officers cause i know the laws in my state. Cops just can't pull you over for no reason and if they do and you feel as if they have get their badge number, this will really **** them off. Cops like to talk down to people especially import enthusiast. If they say your exhaust is to load then find out what the DB's are for your state and test your exhaust. I asked a cop once what about those Harley's and those old *** muscle cars and all i got was..... aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh. daaaaaa.daaaaaa. We stop them too. Yeah right dumb Fu@#. Whatever.....cops these days tend to discriminate and are bias by what your drive. So yeah find out your laws and fight back.

The statutes basically state that anything that isn't carb exempt is illegal, and even if a cop has a SLIGHT suspicion that you might have a stolen motor or illegal product, he has the right to make you pop your hood. You make it out like you're the one barking out orders to the cop, but if you come down to socal, you'll see that your shenanigans won't fly around here. Anyways we know that certain products are illegal when we purchase them, so I don't know why everyone is complaining. Just because you THINK that it should be allowed doesnt mean the law should be tailored to your personal preference.

as for bikes, they can do whatever the hell they want as long as it brings attention to them. They're already by nature way more dangerous than cars, and so I guess the lawmakers figure anything that brings more attention to them so that their presence is known to cars around them is a good thing.

Well has anyone really gone down and read the laws????? I understand the carb legal.....but do you know what makes a part carb legal?? Besides all the BS paper work that you have to go through. Im sorry if i made it seem like i bark out the orders to cops around here but i don't, i just make them think twice, having them second guess themselves usually works and there is alot of things you can get away with if you know the laws. And that part where if the suspect that you have a stolen motor or something thats illegal, thats like them assuming you have drugs in your house. The car is still your property and you have the right to refuse the search. As for the smog test then go get one done on your car and see if it pass....if it doesn't then work out the kinks to get to pass. And the pictures WTF do they have every pic of every muscle car (old) also and even the bikes? Pulling over only imports and making them pop their hoods is being bias, profiling, and discriminating.
Checking out the laws of your states im only suggesting to give you guys a better chance. I know you probally won't do it, but heh WTF i tried. You might be surprised what you find out. I was.

I was.</TD></TR></TABLE> I don't know every single law pertaining to automobile modifications in california, but I do know which products do and do not have a carb EO. Probably 99% of the performance products which we use are not carb exempt in the state of California. Only thing you can really have on your car legally is an intake. In regards to the exhaust law, everybody from another state tends to assume that if it is carb legal (which some are, like greddy), it is legal to have on your car in california. Maybe in some counties, but in Orange County, where I live, there is a certain ordinance which says "ANY MODIFICATION TO THE STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM WHICH AMPLIFIES NOISE OVER THE OEM LEVELS IS ILLEGAL", which basically means if you don't have a stock exhaust system, it is illegal. Trust me, I tried that carb excuse when I was pulled over twice driving very cautiously. Popping a hood to check for modifications is not the same thing as asking you to search your car for narcotics, thus it doesn't fall under the same civil protections as searching your "property" w/ a search warrant. Unfortunately, I have already checked the pertinent laws in Southern California, and this is basically a no-win situation. Hence I ride around w/ a stock jdm itr exhaust, and my car looks like a 4x4 accord coupe. I do agree that it is profiling, but then again, how can you blame the cops, when there are so many idiots here who are killing each other by street racing in stock civic DXs w/ big wings and graphics???? To avoid being stereotypical, many jdm enthusiasts, drifters, etc. also end up dying or killing innocent people by driving like retards on the street. I used to not understand why so many of the people on here were against illegal street racing, but now I know why they feel that way far too well, and agree w/ them 100%.

Sorry to hear that man. Did the cop give you any reason for getting pulled over in the first place?

Do you even know what a blowoff valve is for? You don't NEED one. And if you really wanted something which wasn't too loud you could use a closed loop BOV. The entire purpose of the BOV is to keep excess compressed intake charge from staying in the intake system and slamming back into your turbo's compressor. It's intended to prolong the life of a turbo, but the accompanying noise is usually obnoxious--when vented directly into the atmosphere.
