91 CRX Mod Opttions... Need Opinions
OK... After some debate, I've decided to go the cheap 'n' easy route for my 91 CRX (DX) powertrain upgrade. Having considered then dismissed a ZC swap, I've decided to go the "Mini-Me" route (including concurrent swap to MPFI). I've got most of the major components on the way (ie D16Y cyl head from '97 Civic EX, intake manifold from '91 CRX Si, Injector resistor). Also planning to use HASport DX to Si/B16 harness and ZDyne One-Wire reprogram of PM6 ECU.
Now comes the part where I'm after opinions... The basic intent of the mini-me vs swap was 1) keep it simple; 2) keep costs down (don't really want to drop a lot of $$ as I'll likely sell and upgrade to a newer car in a couple of years). The questions is, how much value am I likely to get out of "tuning" the components (ie port/polish intake; hi-po spings & retainers and/or valve grind of the head). Am I likely to drive costs to the point where I'll see little return in the way of reliable performance?
Would like to know what you experienced tuners think on this topic.
Thanks in advance.
