If I buy a new clutch for my car do I need a new flywheel as well?
According to prostreetonline.com after looking for some new clutch's they say you either need a new flywheel with the new clutch or get the old one resurfaced which would cost around $80. What's your take on this? Should I get the flywheel as well and spend the extra money or get the old one resurfaced? As for clutches is Exedy a good brand to look at? Thanks for anyones help....
well this all depends on your application. they make lightened flywheels and all that. if you arn't going for performance then just get the stock one resurfaced. I have really never heard anything bad about Exedy....there are better, but when you dont have 1300 to blow on a clutch, the Exedy is great
knowing why you are buying the clutch and what you plan on doing to your car will greatly aid in yielding a better response.

no, i definitely suggest measuring the specs to see if it works (I was lucky my dad had the tool, spectrometer I think its called)
it is a myth that resurfacing will help your grip, yes maybe initially but eventually the surface will glaze over and get smooth again

Resurfacing just to remove glaze is, yes, not helping that much. However, if one can feel ridges with a fingernail, even smoothed ridges, in the flywheel then a resurfacing is advised. If the surface is smooth, then an emory paper treatment can probably suffice.
When I replaced my stock clutch at 170K KM, the flywheel had very definite "channels" worn into it. A resurfacing in that case is recommended.
Also, Exedy Organic

Im just looking for an OEM clutch. No sport clutch or race clutch is something that I really had in mind right now. But if you figure the exedy organic oem clutch is $250 and to resurface the flywheel would be an estimate of almost a $100 and I could get the clutch and flywheel for $400. Do you think Id be better off with just that? I got the bigger rims 17" and now Im really noticing my clutch slipping. What about act or centerforce clutchs? How do they compare to Exedy?

Will it give me more bottom end in the lower rpm's?

There are many topics and debates on flywheel weights, so try searching. With a light flywheel, your engine will rev quicker/more freely throughout the entire rev range.

Are you serious? For what I paid Exedy was the only option and its done great for me. For the record take a close look at ACT next time. They look schockingly like a repainted Exedy clutch, I've seen a lot of debate on this topic but I'm skeptical. Not to mention ACT charges a hell of a lot more for pretty much the same clamping force.
and the flywheel thing is overrated. I am HIGHLY skeptical that it will give you any more horsepower, and if it does definitely not 20+ like some bogus products claim. IF ANYTHING your engine will rev faster, flywheels are really made for turbo apps that need a fast spool up. I'm sure I'm gonna be yelled at for this one but from what I've seen that's the case. Granted I don't have aftermarket flywheel in my ride, but that's what I've seen with my buddy's turbo ride.

I don't know about you guys, but, i purchased a Fidanza 8.5 lb flywheel with and exedy clutch, all in all cost about 375 for the both. A good shop right down the street charged me 400 for installation, i know a little steep...but they do good work and are trustworthy. Overall I love it, the f22 non-vtec has suprisingly some ***** with it now

That makes things less complicated. Thanks....

I replaced the clutch on my 90 Accord after the factory one finally went out. I bought a Centerforce Dual Friction for around $250. I really liked it considering the factory clutch was about the same price. For a old Accord with 220,000+ third gear scratch felt pretty nice.
