My wife just took off on a trip and the engine light came on when she hit the road. It is the red engine light. 2003 honda accord V6. Anyone had experience with this or any ideas on causes. Dealership is closed and she must go to catch a flight. Less than 15K miles.

Might want to try to Accord forum. But you can go to Autozone and they'll check it out for free. Can't tell you much else, unless you've already pulled the code.

 

check the gas cap Did she get gasin the last 10-20 miles

 

Probably the maintanence required light.

your check engine can come on if your gas cap isn't on tight its not going to be anything critical but it will also come on if you havent had it serviced in 12,000 miles
