Default S2000 turbo manifold, 4" DP.

Not a lot of the S2k guys view the forced induction forums. So, I thought Id post up some pictures of a new turbo setup we are working on. To my knowledge, this is the first S2k turbo setup with a 4" downpipe. No prices will be given, because this is strictly against the rules, but I thought Id show you guys a pretty cool setup! Im still in awe that we fit everything actually...
This is Member "kane.s2k"'s car, I think it will be insane once we get everything put together!

Theres actually quite a bit of room on the car! Install is a chore though.

He seems very happy with the quality of your shops work. You can check out the praise that he offered you guys over at http://www.s2ki.com.

I must agree the fitment really seems top notch especially to cram a 4" downpipe into such a tight area.

Did you have to relocate the oil filter?

nice, 4" and you can go with an external wastegate.

looks cool, but two things concern me, one, being heat, its awful close to things that arent made to take the heat of a turbocharger. and two, those runners are a bit long no?

I was hoping to get some input from you Steve.
Runner lengths: the #4 runner is about double the length of the #1 runner. The number one runner is the same length as say an SST, just for comparison. Obviously, this difference in length is NOT a good thing, but as long as no two pulses are not hitting the collector at the same time, it wont kill the merge collector effect. Ill measure everything for you guys once I break all the runners back off for jigging, and also for myself so I can answer questions like this accurately. So its NOT equal length because of room constraints w/the 4" downpipe.
Heat: we are looking into providing heat sheilds, or at least instructions how how to make them yourself with materials from the Local ACE hardware(home depot, etc). That, or fugly heat wrap is always an option. There are quite a few ways to control heat, just a matter of whats available/desired.
What would you guys like to see?
Ive never seen the engine bay of a stock S2k, but Rashid said there are heat shields all over the place, so its definately something we need to consider.

To other member's questions:
Oil filter must be relocated, no ifs ands or buts about it.

And AC is all in there, still charged!

Oh, I dont think theres a strut tower bar in the world thatll clear the turbo AND the hood. But from what Ive seen of the body structure on this car(drool, its amazing!), a strut tower brace is merely a cosmetic piece.

bigger is not always better....

what about boost creep or spiking?

is there really a need for a 4" exhaust on a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder.....

i can see it on an inline 6 ...

just curious...

otherwise the system looks top notch....

if the manifold is designed properly, with a properly sized wastegate, then creeping/spiking will not happen. If I had to guess, Id say the wastegate location, and the 46mm(the kits will use 44mm only!) wastegate will clear any excess exhaust just fine and dandy.

Also, no exhaust is better for turbo. The next best thing to NO exaust is 4". I have seen a few impressive gains from switching to 4" from 3", upwards of 30whp, let alone quicker spool, etc.

good luck getting the AC lines protected from the exhuast housing of the turbo. While there is a few inches of clearance to have air as a buffer, I'd wrap it up with fiberglass heat wrap (the AC lines) and wrap the turbo housing with the same stuff, like a jacket.

As for the strut tower bar, I would say it's not helpful in chassis stiffening on a new car, but take a car that's seen track milage or auto-x stresses for several years, and there could be some usefulness in it.

hmm... can the runners be closer to equal length if a 3" DP is used? Will you offer this with a 3" DP? Will you offer just the manifold and downpipe?
Thanks.

I had the same amount of clearance with my A/C lines and the turbine on my accord, wrapping them with that ugly stuff worked.
