Timing the Distributor to Adv need some advices + tips
the other day i checked my spark plugs and they are 2months old in the motor...noticed they're hella black...and quite alot of backfire....so it's very obvious that my engine is running pretty dann rich...anyway ( and yes i search...but this timing issue ain't have too much post.)
current bolt on are:
CAI/H/E (custome 2.5")
so i decided yesterday to Advancing my districtor to counter richness of my engine...My question is
how much should i push toward Advance Timing...right now im about im about 1/2 of full lenght Advance timing..
any suggestions or tips will be appreciate

Get a timing light. There only like $30. You can either set it to 16 degrees BTDC or 18 degrees. 16 is stock and 18 is as much as you'll want to go.

wooo...thanx...so i shouldn't advance the distributor timing w/out the gun...do timing gun help adjuste the timing to counter richness or the motor or anyway what is the purpose of the timing gun

But still, even with a timing light, spark timing isn't gonna fix your too-rich mixture.

hmm i believe it does somehow ...advance it..would allow little more air intake ..however it wont counter the whole running too rich problem ...but dont you thoink it will help somehow

Uhh....
Rotating the distributor advances/retards ignition timing, NOT cam timing. All that's doing is lighting off the mixture a few degrees in the rotation earlier/later, it's not allowing more air into your cylinders. Advancing may slightly help, but it's not a fix.
Find out why your plugs are fouling out ~ fix the problem, not the symptom.
