how far can you take the strippin of an interior in a street legal car?

 

Unless you are going for a full race car, I dont see any point in stripping the interior

i have my crx stripped from the front seats and back. personally i love the look. imo. do what you like buddy

 

well, I understand the whole full race car deal but thats not what I have in mind. I simply dont care for a backseat, maybe ill leave the passenger seat if I need to take a girl out or a friend. but I dont know, like that guy said, I like the way it looks. I just want to know if its illegal to strip it out and just leave the bare metal.

My guess is as long as you have a seat belt, cops wont bitch about it. I plan to strip it, clean it, paint it, and just have the 2 front seats. ill post some pics if I ever do this.

 

As long as u keep the Seats ,seatbelts,,dash(VIN #),,and horn .its legal..
And air bags.if u car came with them...which our cars dont have anyway.so dont worry .

I already know what to do with the backseat.............. use it as a couch in my room to play Gran Turismo 4 when it comes out.

or if you went to UC Santa Barbara and lived in Isla Vista, you could use the backseat as a bonfire in the middle of the street or maybe light it on fire and toss it onto the beach...

it probably also depends on what state you are in because my friend got pulled over by a cop cuz of his under glow, in california and all he had in his hatch was the driver seat and the cop didnt say anything about not having the other seats.

 

In OR, all you need is drivers seat, seatbelt, and instrument cluster.

You don't even have to have a dash as long as the cluster is mounted to something.

 

Here in florida, they really don't care... but its sort of hit and miss.

I got pulled for doing a bit over the speed limit... but I didnt have my cluster in at the time, so when I went to court for the ticket, I told the judge that... and they let me go!!! LOL!

 

As with 90% of the things people do to their cars it's really a matter of personal taste, but I think stripping the interior of a DD is pretty ghey unless you're getting paid to win races.

Not liking a back seat just doesn't even make sense in my mind. I suppose it depends alot on how the rest of your car looks, but 9 out of 10 of the cars I see with a gutted rear interior look like their owners can't afford cars with interiors. I'd feel like an *** hat expecting the girl I'm trying to impress to get into a car like that.

Besides, cops know the kind of kids that strip their interiors, and it's gonna be alot harder to convince them that you're a respectable young man who just happened to be driving a little fast.

 

like you said, is a matter of taste. to me a stripped interior is not gay at all. and to me it doesnt have to be a race car either. so since is not illegal to have it, im stripping it all out.
There is no way to convince a cop. Them ************* work on quotas, so if they need that ticket they giving you, you could do magic and they wouldnt even blink.
oh yeah, and about girls, they shouldnt go out with you based on wether you have an interior on your car or not. if you are an *******, you wont get any period. If you play your cards right, you get some but if your only counting on your ride to get some, then i think you are the "ghey" one. think about it.

All I'm saying is give me one benefit of stripping your interior. More road noise? If that's what you want. Save weight? That extra 10th of a second will sure be worth it. (rolls eyes) You don't "like" interiors? Go drive a ******* go kart.

You don't think having a little decency will get you anywhere with a cop? $10 says you haven't exactly tried. Maybe not every single time, but being pulled over in a car without a park bench spoiler, folgers can muffler, altezzas and a "gutted" interior will certainly create a better impression for a cop than a car with all that crap, believe it or not. I myself have had two personal experiences of being pulled over in which the cop actually squatted down to see if I had a stock muffler and checked out my wheels ('80 something acura sawblades) before giving me a warning for speeding and sending me on my merry way.

As far as girls go, it has nothing to do with trying to impress girls or picking up chicks with my car... it's about *not* looking like a dip ****. I'd much rather pick up the girl I've had a crush on all semester in a nice clean car of any sort, than in gutted out hoopty that looks better suited for a junkyard.

i have no carpet and no back seat.. but im going to replace the carpet. i love not having a back seat.. makes it feel alot more sporty. just make sure your relocated battery is firmly secured!

 

dont remove carpet or dash and leave the door panels on just remove back stuff and i think you will be good.

if i was going to drive a car to impress people i wouldnt be driving a car made in late 80s early 90s. I would be driving a new camaro or mustang or a lexus. But i cant afford those cars anyways.

to answer your question, all you really need is your drivers seat, obviously, your seat belt, and probably the vin. there's no law that says your car needs a carpet. guages would be nice, but i doubt you could get a ticket for not having them.

you can also replace drink with Girlfriend. Then you got those crazy ********* that want to pull a threesome in your crx and you are only down for carrying yourself and one other. I am taking out my backseat, I don't plan on having ppl in the back, nor stuff in the back so why would I need it? I could carpet the whole back making it look clean.

 

My advice is check with your states DMV as to whats "legal" for your car. Each state is diff. I moved to PA from Illinois and let me tell you..its a diffrent
world here. What IL comsidered okay..PA considers a danger. So before you do
what you want...check the vehicle guide for your state..then proceed accordingly.

First off.. Strip it.. it will be loud. Strip the tar and it gets even louder

I stripped my car... the next day a tow truck came because the neighbors reported it as an abandon car. Just to let you know how the public will view your freshly stripped vehicle
