Coming extremely close to shelling out the cash for my first Honda (growing tired of the Jeep in my avatar). I'm probably going to end up traveling 200 Miles to Dallas to get it, so I really can't make a trip to and from just to check it out.

What are some specific questions I should ask before even heading down there? And when I do get there, what should I check for?

 

rust. mileage isn't too important. check and make sure the head is ok. check to see if the owner has driven/started the car before you've arrived. could mean it has some start-up problems. see if alternator, radiator hoses, clutch, and CV joints have all been replaced. i dunno the rest. good luck, and don't mess with a DX..

I would say having no rust to repair is the most important thing to look for that any do a vin check to see if it has been involved in any accidents also look for a clear title. Also if you are not planning on doing a swap fairly soon look for lower milage and get a compression check done if possible

 

Definitely rust, especially on the rear quarter panels.

 

 

check title like the other guy said see if its salvaged or not i dont know if you would care but you might my car is salvaged but it drives straight rust is one thing but good body work can always take care of that also see if it has any major engine repairs gasket sealer popping out, if you can take it to a local garage and have them look at it.

 

eh, screw the rust on the quarter panels, that can be fixed... check the JACK POINTS, and the FLOOR PANS!!! Very expensive, very dangerous!!!
