egr new or used??
my egr valve is all f@cked up and i was wandering how much is a new one and insted of getting a new one should i just get one from ebay. ebay has it for $45 i have a 92 accord ex thanks
go to a junk yard and see if they'll let you pull one....heck theres a thread on here (i think...may be somewhere else) about blocking the EGR valve
i would personally go to a junk yard and pull one (or have them pull one) and clean it out. what exactly is wrong with yours? if the junk yard prices are too high then go with ebay

i went on cb7tuner and followed the diy on cleaning the egr ports it help it allot but the check engine is on and it reads a code 12 witch is the egr. Sometimes when i punch it around 5.5rpms it starts to Revs up and slows down ill go pick one up and see if it helps thanks
cb7tuner is asome... ya cleaning out your egr valve isn't hard at all as long as you have the slide hammer to do it.... and car gets better gas millage from it and fell a little better performance........

You'll be fine w/ a used EGR from junkyard or ebay. Ebay is lot easier, but the possibility always exists of a faulty part (sometimes the seller doesn't even know the part is bad).
A good egr should be normally closed. You can test by attempting to blow through the exhaust passsage. It should seal tightly. If you suck slightly on the vacuum port, the pintle (valve) should lift off. If both of these checks are good, the EGR is functionally fine.
However, there is a resistor that provides feedback to the ECU on pintle lift. This is used by ECU to set optimum EGR lift vs. engine speed/load. You can test w/ a VOM by measuring resistance and observing resistance change when you push the pintle upwards manually. Resistance should change smoothly as you move the pintle.
good luck
