Default Zc engine question

As most of you know, the ZC engine has a sensor on the ZC head for the exhaust camshaft.
While driving my sensor fell off due to loose bolts, oil spilled out, but there were no performance problems in the engine itself. I do have a engine check light on though, are you required to have the sensor on? or can i just buy a block off plate n cover up the hole.

thanks

Damn, thats the first I've ever heard of that but I think you need it to help with ignition timing. It will either advance or retard spark. I think you will want to replace that part over the long haul. You can use a 88-89 integra cam position sensor.
