10 grand and some change.
Fortunatley for you, the cost and the insurance on the bike will make it almost impossible to get. (Unless youve been riding since you were 14 and you or your Mom make 6 figures.) I imagine the insurance for an 18yo with a clean driving record would be considerably more than any loan payment.
The bank and the insurance company will be betting against your short term survival.
Think smaller and standard, not sport for now. You need some basic riding skills before getting a sport bike. It's almost like riding a unicycle before learning how to ride a bike. For your application I'd look for a dualsport Honda or Yamaha with electric start.

The Busa is not REALLY a sport bike as much as a Sport/Touring bike because of it's size, it's in a similar class with the Honda Super Black Bird (CBRXX). These bikes are the flagship 0-60/100 top-speed bikes and are not as manuverable as the GSX/929/R51 racing bikes that can take thes bikes in turns with equal riders. Yamaha's R1 although really more Sport than either of these is usually paired up to them for comparison.
considering u r only 18 i see your point of view wanting a busa but its not a good idea for college considering if this is your first bike you probably wont live through college. I had the same idea when i wanted my first bike. I wanted a 900RR. trust me you dont want something that big. How much experience do u have riding? U should probably start on something smaller and used and move up slowly to the larger bike. I thought i wanted a big fast bike until i rode my cousins 600 to decide what i wanted. Even his 600F3 was a lot of bike for a beginner. Trust me for your safety u dont need anything larger than 600cc for your first bike unless you have some serious riding experience (ie you are miguel duhamel, or curtis roberts).
getting a Hayabusa as a first bike
It's a death wish

thats putting it nicly. This kid must really want to die badly. Ive been riding since I was 6 and that thing still scares me.
You wont be getting insurance on a busa. Lets put it this way. I wanted to get a 600cc a couple years ago. On my own policy with a clean driving record at the time was going to be 4Gs a year. Or half the bike.

Are you nuts???? I'm 36 and I've had a bike since I was 12....I got my first street bike at 19 and I've had a bike ever since. My CBR still scares the $hit out of me every now and then. If you end up with a Busa, I would suggest you get some good body armor.......I'm talking about the stuff the knights wore....cuz you're going to need it.

its funny how all the over 30 motorcyclists say the same thing about being safe. my gut tells me the rest are dead or sold their machines before they were a grease spot.

haha thanks for your sympathy guys. i was just curious. i know im not gonna get one. its a dream. i dream to get a yelllow busa or other bike. and pull up to neptunes net w/ a team of them and w/ hot asian biker chicks and kick all the harley's out! hahhaa
i dream of riding the entire afternoon on a cool sunny day, and finding myself carving up some back roads in the middle of nowhere, screaming in my helmet: "I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE AND NOBODY ELSE IS!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!"
but we all have to dream.
but we all have to dream.
Busa here in town. . .13g's insurance for me 24/good driving record/7yrs expierence= 295 a month. . .I could only imagine what it would be for you. . .get a 600cc. . .when I got my first bike I was shooting for the stars too. . .I wanted a ZX9R. . .I rode my buddies and **** my pants. . .then I got an R6. Damn good bike. . .but I started off on a Kawi 250ex. . .don't write checks your *** can't cash ya know?
falconGSR: yep, my reply was directed at utensil. Since I've had street bike, I know of one guy I rode with a few times that got killed on his bike (was going nuts and caught the rear of a big rig at around 80) and I've lost count of the number of guys I know that have gone down.....pretty much all had minor injuries. I hate to say it, but I've yet to go down hard....I've only gone down twice at less than 10-20 mph and that was when I was pretty much starting out.....I'm not taking into account the 300+ times I've gone down in the dirt (dirt bikes). I know that it's only a matter of time.......that's why I never ride without full body armor, boots, gloves, etc....I'll bake my *** off in 90+ degrees to save my hide.

I thought my hide was cooked!
i dont know anything about busas, except there was a GSXR1300R cylinder head sitting on a table at the motorcycle show. i ended up talking to the guy who was there for his motorcycle college or whatever and he showed me how the valve seals had cracked in 2 cylinders.
something about how they have one machine that reams the valve seats and machines the valve seals all in one step can cause failure. apparently other manufacturers *cough*honda*cough* do this in 2 steps to get higher tolerances and a truer fit between the valve stem and the valve seal.
on a side note, i was really suprised at how thick the carbon deposits had gotten in the combustion chamber and exhaust ports. overall the head looked like it had been beaten to hell and back.

i know nothing about bikes. whats a f4i? and a 929? i just liked hayabusas cuz i heard that theyre good and they look nice haha. i dunno i wana yellow bike (still a dream)
18?? Hayabusa?? New Rider??? HAHAHAHA! I recently learned how to ride and I own a 1982 Honda FT500 ASCOT (1 cylinder and about 22 HP, yet faster to 60 than a mustang GT! HAHA!). Its a blast to ride and runs strong as ever. When you start with a 160+ HP beast of a bike like the Busa, you become a smear on the road after your first time out on it.
Kids on hyperbikes? I read sometime ago, when the big Ninjas came out, the average life of these bikes in the hands of an 16-20 year old is about six months. Your first year's insurance premium, if you can get it, could be the cost of the motorcycle, and they might want it up front.
When I was getting a quote from allstate, the lady told me:
"Some bikes you have to pay a surcharge on top of the premiums"
"Which bikes?" I ask...I can hear her shuffling papers for a few seconds and then she says, "Basically, any bike with 'R' in its name"
lol
