How much hp without the ac belt?
I've seen some people who take off their ac belt to get a little more horsepower. They all tell me that their car pulls harder and they can feel the difference. Does anyone know how much more horsepower you can get by taking the belt off.
no hp is gained by removing the a/c belt because the compressor is actuated by a clutch. You can turn the pulley with you pinkie when the clutch isn't engaged.
From my personal expierience, i felt no difference at all. I went from a Civic Type R crank pully(really light w/ no a/c or p/s belts) to a stock crank pully with the A/c belt put back on. I couldnt feel a difference at all. NOW you might be able to feel a SLIGHT difference from flooring it with the A/C turned on and running with ice cold air, compared to not having the belt on there at all. get what i mean? if you live somewhere where it gets pretty warm i wouldnt take your A/C out, i did that, and it wasnt worth it i think, my opinion thought. Some people might tell you to take it out though.
yea it'll in theory perform better but its nothing youll feel. Might see 1-2 hp gains on a dyno. Not worth it unless its a race car ac is nice for defogging windows in the rain
