possible convertable
hey can anyone help me out,ive got a 93 civic hatch and i was woundering if its possible to make it into a convertable, the car has been rolled and has a lot of top damage so i thought i could get rid of the damage by removing it all together. any help and maybe any pics on this and what i would need to do would be helpful......thanks.
you woudl probably need some sort of roll cage/bars of some sort to keep the body from folding in on itself.
Just hack it off, then start welding in braces all over the place.

square tubing is your best friend
thats an idea though, my 96 hatch got rearended bad, so imthinking of an s10 window behind the front seats and make a truck bed out of whats left of the back and plopping it on a blazer 4x4 frame. paint it camo with a body kit should **** off enough rednecks

that would **** off the rednecks huh, thats funny....but i was told that i would have to tear out the interior of my car and weld in like another fram or something, i dont know yet

Ive seen a few here on H-T. Chop the top off to make it convertible. I remember the orange hatch. The poster got flamed.
Well that depends on ur taste. Just make sure to reinforce the frame so it will not bend. The weakest part would be across the doorjamb.
Oh I found an old pic but not a convertible.

i know its a fake. but i have a guy that builds top fuel dragster frames from scratch so i think that chopping up and rewelding some metal on a civic is no problem. it would rock at the shows. Unfortuneately i cant even get my current civic finished so blah.
Yeah thats a photoshopped civic. But it looks bad *** to me.
Here's the one i was talking about ... the orange convertible.

So as you can se, it is possible. But hell knows how they reinforced the chasis so it wont flex.

there is one that looks like the orange photo chopped one HERE IN SAN JOSE! it looks almost exact same but it's in a purplish color. kinda gay to me though (it's located on the EAST SIDE for all of you SJ ppl that are curious to see it. i used to see it ALL THE TIME around quimby and white road)
