Default Opened Up Valve Releifs LS/B20 Vtec?

What is the procedure when getting the valve reliefs opened up?

Can they do it with the pistons still in the motor? I really want to have a pretty nice setup, but in this case I know something has to be done about the valve reliefs. I just want to know the process and what to expect.

Thank you,
Eric

it can be done in the car, there are pictures floating around here before on how it was done (lots of duct tape).

my main gripe with this is you are sure to un balance your piston weights. my vote is to take em out and grind them and then have them balanced. new rings arent that expensive and new bearings arent a bad idea either. you can get new acl bearings new rings arp rod bolts have the pistons balanced all for under 200 bux

Well I have bearings, I didnt really want to tear the motor down but I guess its probably the best way. I guess ill just do minor mods to the B20 that can be used later on, on my vtec head. And then when the time comes have enough money to have some decent compression pistons and a nice build all at once.

you can do it with them in the car.... i dont have any doubt that it wouldnt work. there have been plenty of people on here that have done it. im just not to sure if it would really be the best thing to do. not sure how long it would last like that. but i do know for a fact that type r cams will make the valves hit, they showed a picture of some pistons in honda tuning mag. dont know if they were p3f or phk though. you might be ok with GSR cams though if you dont go crazy with cam gears.

my ls/vtec had ls pistons that were cut in the block and it is still running after 3 years and lots of abuse.. and about 50k hard miles on it. so as far as the pistons being out of balance... they are not all balanced from factory they are close and if u cut your pistons pretty close to the same it shouldnt ever be a issue. let a machinest do it if it is a huge concern. and screw running a b20 head with stock internals and cams.. put the vtec head on and you will be more than satisfied
