Does anybody know how to do this? The book says "To reset the maintenance required indicator, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position, then press and hold the trip meter reset button until the indicator resets."

I did this...however the maint req'd light is still on and I have no clue what I'm doing wrong. Anybody have a better way to explain it than in the Honda Owners manual. It's a 2000 S if that makes a difference.

Keep trying! It may take more than a few times to get it right. Mine is also flashing, but I'm too lazy to look in the manual to see how to make it disappear.

 

u just need to hold the button a little bit longer, i do it all the time.

 

You're supposed to hold the button that says "Trip" right? How long is long enough? 1 minute...2 minutes...? The ignition is not supposed to be on, correct? Is there a beep for me to know that it turns off or should I just guess?

 

that hold of the button sually works but you have to do it for a little while.
on my it was some of a painin the *** to it.

 

I thought that you put it on the lock position hold the trip themturn the ignition to the on position. Then wait till the light goes off !?

 

Yep, that's how you do it. Went to Honda dealer, had them show me how. Also had my taillights replaced due to a recall. Rock out.

 

Just did it on my car.

Put key in. Hold trip button down. Turn the key all the way. Keep holding trip button. Wait for Mait. Req. light to go off. Let go of trip button. Turn car off.
