Has anyone passed emissions with an ITB setup?
I have a GSR motor with ITB's, and I am having trouble getting the car to pass emissions. I have a AEM EMS, and have had the car professionally tuned to pass emissions, but so far it has failed miserably 3 times, even though it seems to pass at the tuner's shop. Anyone with a ITB setup who has got their car through emissions? Any pointers for troubleshooting? Thanks for your help...
Why is it failing? Is it because of actual emissions? Or are visual tests performed where you live? If the former is the case, you could probably tune the problem away. But if the problem is a visual one, there is nothing you can do about it short of returning to stock. This could be why it passes at your tuner shop but fails the actual test.
I do have spec C cams, and the car has been tuned for emissions. There is no visual inspection of the engine - the car is just failing the emissions test, quite miserab;y I might add. I even revved the engine to warm up the catalytic converter just before the technicial began the test. My mechanic has a dyno and a tail pipe analyzer too, and he showed me how a hot cat made a big improvement in the emissions numbers. He says it passes in his shop, and he even had one of his guys take it through emissions the third time, but it still failed and they got similar numbers to what I got the first two times. The are about ready to give up and switch out the ITBs for a single throttle body with an intake manifold...
