Air Craft stripper from your local Wal-mart will take the paint right off

To polish I would strip the paint. Clean the cover really well. Then using a buffing wheel (not a pad like you use to wax a car) and some buffing compound just polish it. You can get buffing wheels at Home Depot and Lowes, however, their compounds are ussually pretty old and dry. Lowes, I think, has some better stuff than HD but you can always get good compound from Eastwood.

the cover i got looked just like the one in the pic except all scratched up. I personally do not feel comfortable driving around like that with the belt exposed.

I highly recommend VHT Wrinkle Plus Red paint (SP-204). It looks identical to the paint used on the Type-R red valve cover. Go to my webpage ( http://www.geocities.com/bretq/Valve...tructions.html ) for instructions for painting your valve cover. Here is a picture of my painted valve cover.

You can purchase the VHT red wrinkle paint from Summit Racing - part number VHT-SP205 ( http://www.summitracing.com ). Yes, you definitely need to strip your valve cover before painting. If you don't, you will only have more problems later on.

heheh... it is amazing though how a few hours and some simple green can make HUGE difference. then i started getting picky and taking off nuts and sanding them and painting them along with miscellaneous little brackets and whatnot.
