Default Newbie: Got simple questions about mods and maintenance

I have a 1995 4 door gsr *all stock for now*. I'm looking to getting new spark plugs and plug wires. What do u guys recommend? Also, What intake do u guys like? Im ruling out short rams because i dont wanna be sucking up hot engine bay air. I'd like good performance out of it. Know any places where i can find these things cheap? Thanks for all your help.

OEM plugs and wires are what I use. As far as intake setups, you'll get varied responses ranging from Comptech Iceboxes to homemade ebay intakes. If you're looking for a CAI (cold air intake), AEM makes one. If money is an issue, look an ebay for cheaper priced CAIs.

cant got wrong with aem cold air, oem plugs and wires are perfect for what you have, later on you might want a dc 4-2-1 header and a nice exhaust

wires:
budget low=NGK plug wires
budget high=Nology wires

intake
budget low=Fake J's racing intake
budget high=AEM intake w/bypass (seriously do not even bother with a CAI unless you get a bypass.)

Plugs:
budget low=bosh single electrode
budget high=denso iridiums ***

***these plugs are awsome. went from zex plugs to these and they not only gave me about 20 more mpg per tank but seemed to pull harder at higher RPM's.

fyi: short rams really only have a slight disadvantage from a standstill because once you start driving the airflow equalizes the underhood temp.

Either way, SRI or CAI, a cheap ebay intake is just as good as an aem intake because they are all exactly the same. The only difference is that AEM has a carb sticker.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON STUPID MODS THAT DONT GIVE YOU POWER!!!!

if you want power, save your money untill you can get something worth getting... ie turbo, pistons, nitrous, tranny etc etc. intake is good IF YOU ARE MAKING the power. i think about 1000000000 kids have i/h/e. with a completely stock motor... they put about 1000 dollars into about 8 whp. gl

there are more factors than this...

granted you can drop alot of money on bolt ons but to each his own. I personally would rather open up the breathing of my car and still have it for 250k to 300k miles than slap on a unreliable turbo and shortin my engine life... To each his own
(not that all turbos are unreliable, but the amount of money that I have to spend i doubt could get me a reliable turbo)
Dont get me wrong though, i would love a turbo but its not the time or place.

To the origional poster, i would go with stuff straight from honda for the wires and plugs. Theyre made by NGK so i dont think you could go wrong there.
AEM CAI is a nice intake but as gearkraft said, get the bypass...

I just get the OEM honda plugs and wire.

As far as the intake, if that's all you're going to add, I wouldn't bother.
