Syncrowave 250.
I started with the first gen Econotig and never could do clean welds. In hindsight it may have had a leak in the argon line since contaminated welds happened all the time. No such problem with the 250 and I've never regretted the purchase, though the money stung a bit at the time...

as long as you dont need to weld anything more than sat about 1/8th of an inch, then the 90 should be fine with a gas set up for it.
p.s. i use a miller 225D plus

i don't even know that the 250 is worth it for automotive fabrication. I don't do any heavy / frame work, but i've never maxxed out my 180SD.
I've welded on all the miller and lincoln tigs before and I like mine just as much as the $5000 dollar 355 amp machines and ****. For constant duty cycle work i would buy myself a water cooler. but i don't need it so whatever.
'04 miller synchrowave 180sd.

OK, 1st post from a newbie forum member in Australia. My day job is repairing and fabricating sprintcar chassis' and specialist Tig welding on all sorts of materials.
We've got 3 Tig machines at work, a 20 year old Esab DTA 200 AC/DC an 8 year old Miller Syncrowave 250 and my favourite an 18 month old OTC AVP300 which has literally all the bells and whistles. It's so good I haven't even turned on the syncrowave for over 3 months.
Regards Andrew.
